Summer In Barcelona
If you’re in Barcelona during summertime, then you absolutely have to take my advice and do the following.
Barcelona is one of Europe’s most iconic cities that is bursting with life and experiences to be enjoyed. Here are some helpful tips on how to make the most of Barcelona during summertime.
Relax at the Font Màgica
Built by Carlos Buigas in 1929 for the International Exhibition, the Font Magica stays true to its name as the fantastic water shows, illuminated with fantastic lighting and synchronized with music, look like a magic dance.
Every year, the Font Màgica is chosen for the Piromusical, an important firework show, that celebrates the end of Barcelona’s main festival, La Mercè.
During the summer heat you can choose to enjoy the choreographies of this centerpiece of the complex Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina street, the street running from the Palau Nacional to Plaça d’Espanya in Montjuïc. It is the perfect place to picnic while watching the shows.
Explore Barcelona’s panoramic views on Rooftop Terraces
Rooftop terraces are the perfect choice to dine outside while taking in Barcelona’s breathtaking views. From up high you can experience the sky while enjoying drinks and Catalan cuisine with friends. Visit the Sky Bar at the Grand Hotel Central, its infinity pool and atmosphere will mesmerize you. At the Barcelo Raval Hotel you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the city. If you are looking for one of the highest points, we recommend the Grand Hotel La Florida’s rooftop terrace.
Antoni Gaudì’s masterpiece Casa Batllò hosts summertime rooftop concerts during its Magic Nights and La Pedrera also hosts events you may greatly enjoy.
Join the open air Film Festival at Castle Montjuic
Starting the 28 of June and ending on the 2nd of August you can enjoy the best movies, concerts, picnics and short films in open air and great company at the Montjuic Castle during its film festival.
But that’s not the only summertime experience to enjoy, the Montjuic Gardens are peaceful and perfect for romantic strolls and if you are looking for a pool with amazing views the Montjuic swimming pool, featured in Kylie Minogue’s “Slow” video has a beautiful view to offer.
Escape to the Beach
As an alternative to popular Barceloneta and San Sebastià Beaches – which offer plenty of entertainment but also tend to be crowded, visit Nova Icaria Beach as it is peaceful and fully equipped for a family outings and sports activities. Ocata Beach is also an ideal choice if you are looking for tranquility and privacy. Whichever location you choose, you will surely fall in love with the Sea and the incredible warmth of the Spanish people.
